Lantern workshops are underway

The lantern workshops have just begun and there is still lots of time to drop in and make a lantern to carry in the Moon Festival. Yoko Tomita is leading the workshops and she can give expert advice on creating simple globe lanterns or more complex,  but worth the extra work bamboo frame lanterns. Workshops are at Renfrew Commuity Centre 4-8pm, Mon – Friday. Leadership students at Windermere in grade eight and nine have already made a village of house lanterns and a whole school of fish lanterns and they are looking great!

The grade 10 leadership students have begun their training to take a leadership role in the festival crew. Each year the Moon Festival has about 200 youth volunteers and the Grade 10 leadership students help keep all the volunteers focussed and the whole event running smoothly.
