About Still Moon

Still Moon Arts Society inspires vibrant and connected communities by creating artistic experiences and nurturing a passion for nature.
Still Moon Arts Society was formed on July 2, 2004 as an outgrowth of 5 years of art projects with the community developed by Artistic Director Carmen Rosen, in collaboration with the Collingwood Neighbourhood House, the Arts Pow Wow, Renfrew Community Centre Society, the Collingwood Community Policing Centre, Windermere Secondary School and many other community groups.
The goals of Still Moon Arts Society are:
- To develop, engage, and promote the creation of art from a diversity of disciplines
- To promote and engage in activities that educate, raise environmental awareness, and enhance and restore sustainable natural environments
- To promote community engagement and participation in environmental and artistic projects
- To promote and engage in activities that link arts, community, and environment
Achievements
- 7 years of Renfrew Ravine Moon Festival 2003 – 2009
- Spirit Fish, a watershed awareness art and stewardship pilot project March 2008 – March 2009, March 2010, August 2010
- Crossing Oceans, a cross-cultural concert December 2008
- 2 native plant and art garden projects with permanent mosaic pathways and art benches at the north and south ends of Renfrew Ravine
- Outdoor Labyrinth with mosaics
- Mosaic at Windermere High school created with the Athena Fine arts students
- Working partnerships with numerous community organizations – such as the Still Creek Stewardship Society, Rivershed Society, local schools, community centres, seniors’ centres, and Neighbourhood Houses
- Reflections on Water project and community forum produced with the Renfrew Branch Library 2006
- Fine Arts Day Camp, 2 week camp with professional artists teaching stilt walking, theatre, costume design, visual arts and music, 2005, 2007, 2008, 2009
- Development of youth community performing groups
- Artistic contribution and performances at community festivals – Collingwood Days, Frog Hollow Hallowe’en, Greek Fest, Lunar New Year at Sun Yat Sen Gardens, Riley Park Farmer’s market, Chor Leoni, Bard on the Beach performances
